Getting Here

When traveling to the Fort Jackson area, the nearest major airport is the Columbia Metropolitan Airport which services a variety of domestic flights. Taxi service from the airport is available as well as bus service through Greyhound. The military assistance desk is located in the airport atrium and can provide information on ground transportation Monday through Friday from 5 pm to 1 am. The USO is available for Soldiers, their family members and and DoD civilians daily from 8 am to 9 pm. If arriving by car, take Interstate 26 toward Charleston, head to I-77 North and Exit 116 towards Charlotte. Take the Forest Drive/Fort Jackson exit 12. Make a right onto Forest Drive, which becomes Strom Thurmond Blvd. Gate access is required. Enter at Gate 2, and the Fort Jackson Welcome Center is located just past the first stoplight on the right. If military personnel traveling with family require temporary lodging, many hotels and motels near Fort Jackson are available.
